Education
Your employees deserve some education upon implementation of a drug and alcohol workplace policy. We can discuss the introduction of a drug and alcohol policy and testing program with your staff and provide them with education on the purpose of the program, and the manner in which it will be conducted.
Medvet Laboratories can assist with training of staff, from senior managers to all ground staff. This allows an external and fully trained person to handle questions from all levels of employees. It is our experience that combining the roll out of a policy where you are enabling staff to ask questions with the provision of an education session about the testing methods and drug and alcohol affects brings a high level of acceptance of the program from the workforce.
We can offer a range of education services delivered by trained and experienced staff including:
- Presentations focusing on testing procedures, alcohol and breathalyzer use or the drugs we test for and their affects.
- Information packs for employees with specific information on the drugs we are testing for, alcohol and referral to professional drug and alcohol counsellors.
- Access to an 1800 number answered by a qualified nurse to confidentially discuss drug and alcohol use.
- Information cards for employees to take to their Doctor or Pharmacist to discuss their medications.
Clearly there are other issues that impact on fitness for work beyond drug and alcohol abuse, such as fatigue for example. This may also be an appropriate time to link this as part of a "fitness for work" program and discussions on other general health issues.
