Drug Testing Education and Training

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Medvet Laboratories is registered to:

  • Deliver training and conduct assessments; and
  • Issue nationally recognised qualifications within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)

Education

Education sessions are a critical first step to ensure acceptance of your drug testing policy at all levels of the organisation. Education sessions provide managers and employees with the opportunity to learn about the collection and drug testing process, provide peace of mind about their rights, obligations and any other issues they may have regarding privacy.

Education is critical, ensuring employees make informed and responsible choices in relation to using drugs and alcohol. All sessions are conducted by our team of fully trained consultants who are able to conduct these sessions at your workplace or nominated venue.

Medvet Laboratories offer five education modules tailored to your requirements (minimum two modules required per education session). These include:

  • Alcohol awareness and education
  • Drug awareness and education
  • Oral fluid collection and testing procedures
  • Urine collection and testing procedures
  • Breath alcohol screening

Each education module runs for approximately 30 minutes with a maximum of 20 people attending per session. Important aspects of the Australian Standards AS/NZS 4308, AS 4760, employee confidentiality and privacy are covered in detail.

Training

Course in Workplace Drug Testing (AQTF)

Medvet Laboratories can train nominated staff with this nationally recognised course under the Australian Quality Training Framework. The course details the requirements of a 'collector' as defined by Australian Standards AS/NZS 4308:2008, AS 4760:2006.

The course has a number of modules including:

  • Preparing for collection of specimen
  • Performing screening procedures
  • Performing post collection procedures / chain of custody
  • Labelling and storing specimens for transportation

This is a one day training course and participants who successfully complete the course and assessment will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Drug and Alcohol Management Program (DAMP) Supervisor Workshop

 

The DAMP workshop provides training for Supervisors, outlining their responsibilities as a DAMP Supervisor and defines their role in prevention and management of problematic alcohol and other drug use in the workplace. The workshop consists of the following modules:

  • Alcohol and other drugs in the workplace
  • Workplace factors and the effects and impact of different categories of alcohol and other drugs
  • Different aspects of alcohol and other drugs related harm
  • DAMP Supervisor role
  • Managing intoxicated employees and the alcohol adn other drugs testing process: identification, evidence, testing
  • Further assistance for the DAMP Supervisor and employee

This is a 2 1/2 hour course and participants who successfully complete the course and assessment will be issued with a Statement of Attendance.
