Medvet Laboratories is one of Australia’s largest providers of human medical testing services in the areas of workplace drug testing and food & environmental testing.
Medvet also commercialises medical and scientific intellectual property from pathology and hospital environments and generates income that is donated to further medical research.
Medvet was founded in 1985 as the commercial vehicle of the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS).
Medvet's mission is to support, develop and market the intellectual property from research in medicine and science and products that arise from the successful research and development.
This has led to a new range of commercial testing services in:
- Drug and alcohol workplace testing services with 140 collection staff nationally;
- Food and environmental testing;
- Cancer diagnostic services such as MammaPrint - a new genetic screen for breast cancer;
- Parentage testing services;
- Medical laboratories located in Adelaide and Alice Springs;
- International and national medical evacuation and repatriation services (Mediflight);
- The provision of specialised medical services to international patients (Aushealth); and
- The protection and commercialisation of intellectual property arising from research.
