At AusHealth, we have full time permanent roles available in our Head Office in Underdale, as a Collections Officer, where you will:
- Achieve resolutions and recover outstanding debts.
- Negotiate and implement payment arrangements.
- Maintaining a high-level of customer service via all contact points
- Participate and support relevant team projects and meetings.
What will my day to day look like?
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Communicating
- Liaising with patients and external organisations relating to hospital fees and charges (over the phone and via email)
- Undertaking inbound and outbound calls
Managing Portfolio
- Following up and collecting outstanding debt from health funds, other third-party insurers, insurance companies, Workcover and patients according to the Debt Management Policy to ensure maximum outstanding revenue is collected in a timely manner.
- Assisting with the resolution of account queries for patients and Health funds
- Working with a variety of software's and systems, including Microsoft Excel and Collect
- Understanding reasons for arrears including financial hardship

- Ensure all contractual requirements, Privacy, and ACCC/ASIC Debt Collection Guidelines are adhered to.

- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
You may also possess one/some/all the desirable skills we look for, including:
- Previous Health Fund Inpatient billing or collections experience
- A second language
- Knowledge of the National Debt Collection guidelines and legislation

The Position
The Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder is required to assign accurate and timely clinical codes to episodes of care through analysis of clinical documentation using the ICD-10-AM/ACHI classification systems and applying the Australian and State Coding Standards.
Trouble shoot and problem solve issues relating to the clinical coding function making coding decisions in consultation with the Australian Coding Standards and Hospital guidelines. Some coding decisions may require escalation to the Coding Manager. The incumbent is expected to liaise with appropriate staff to achieve a resolution.
Participate in and contribute to quality activities in relation to coded data and the collection of quality health data.
Essential Criteria
• Degree qualified in Health Information Management to be classified as a Health Information Manager
• Certificate qualified in either Certificate IV in Clinical Classification or Diploma of Clinical Coding to be classified as a Clinical Coder
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and understanding unclear documentation within the medical record
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to stay focused for extended periods of time
• Ability to be team-focused and work independently
• Results-driven, innovative and resourceful attitude
You will make an impact by:
• Perform clinical coding at a high level, covering a broad Casemix.
• Using appropriate initiative, judgement and resources such as the Australian and State Coding Standards.
• Ensure the correct assignment and sequencing of Australian ICD – 10 AM codes and appropriate DRG assignment
• Undertake research as required to assist in making informed judgements relating to clinical documentation, code assignment and application of the National
and State Coding Standards
• Ability to work with limited supervision and demonstrate a commitment to learning and development in various areas of the role.

What will my day to day look like?
Over a rotating roster, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Liaising with patients, Medical Consultants, and external organisations relating to hospital fees and charges (face to face at one of our client hospitals, or over the phone).
• Meet patients in the hospital to obtain financial consent, relevant admission & private health insurance paperwork to collect fees.

The Company
AusHealth Work, a division of The AusHealth Hospital Research Fund (AusHealth), has been a national workplace safety and wellbeing leader since 1985 and specialises in providing drug and alcohol testing services. We are currently seeking to expand our Collector network to work with AusHealth clients based in the Cairns region. Our clients engage AusHealth to conduct workplace testing for the presence of drugs and alcohol through planned testing events as well as unplanned testing, following work incidents.
The Opportunity
As one of our valued Collectors, your work will involve:
• Performing workplace drugs of abuse testing for breath alcohol, oral fluid, urine and/or hair
• Maintaining the chain of custody of specimens and accurate records of all on-site visits.
• Organising the transportation of specimens to laboratories after collection as required
As a casual specimen Collector, your working hours will fluctuate in line with our client needs and as such, there is no guarantee of regular and consistent hours.
You will need to be generally available 24/7 due to the nature of our work – this includes being available at short notice for incident response. Possession of a smartphone, current driver’s license and reliable vehicle is essential. Whilst not mandatory for all clients, a high number of our clients require staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Evidence will be required of this for specific clients.
